A Frankenstein's monster of random stuff I mostly got from PCdesktops, a Windows XP-era desktop ricing site. I think the window borders and title bars are based on a KDE theme called Back in Business, I think most of the start menu icons are from BeOS and old KDE, and the 16px terminal icon is a modified OSX terminal icon from ErythOS (I'm not sure why I even thought to do that). I don't remember what the Winamp skin was but it's probably in the top results of the Winamp Skin Museum. Even though I had Wine installed, I made my own version of OtaClock using FvwmScript and Bash.
Everything else shown in the screenshot is original, including the shiny bar on top that shows things like what song is currently playing. This screenshot was taken a few years ago but I made the date say 2002 because I thought it would be neat to do that. I also made a countdown timer that would unintentionally break and lag the whole computer if it ran out of things to count down to, so I always had it counting down to something. I made it count down to Y2K38 around the time I quit using this setup.
The dotfiles for this setup are so jank that I can't use it on any of the computers I've had since the one in the screenshot, but it does look nice.

This is a setup I would like to come back to some day but the dotfiles are so bad that it would be embarrassing to release them. I think I might just remake it from scratch while maintaining the original look of it.
The terminal color scheme is also cool, reminiscent of Plan 9's acme. It's just very Y2K old school in a very Linuxy way. For a "Frankenstein's monster" it's quite cohesive. Focus on human usability over some of the stupid ａｅｓｔｈｅｔｉｃ stuff people are so crazy about. Look at me, I have a borderless window manager! I do Alt+Super+Semicolon+Num9+RealLifeBackflip+F13 to open Firefox! MOST PEOPLE HAVE MICE THESE DAYS, GET WITH THE TIMES! I'M NOT SORRY, PEOPLE!
